Getting here

We are deep in the mountains of Nara, and access is hard; we would rather say so here than have you find out on the road.

From Kagoshima it is a full day's travel; Hiroshima is half a day away. From Osaka or Kyoto, take the Kintetsu line to Haibara station, then two buses — about an hour and a half more, with few departures a day. You get here on your own; once a visit is arranged we send the timetable and meet you off the bus.

The nearest convenience store is thirty minutes away by bus, the nearest supermarket an hour and a half; the village canteen is five minutes' walk, as is a small hot-spring bath.

We are colder than the towns, and this is an old wooden house — cold inside is the normal condition from autumn to spring. Bring warm layers.
