Okuyama House
In February 2027 we will be in the San Francisco Bay Area for a talk and a workshop. Yufuko will teach how to look at a bowl the way tea practice teaches it — the whole form, the parts, the space inside, the foot — with small vessels to pass hand to hand.
Francis will speak on how words travel: what wabi meant in one century is not what it meant in the next, nor what it means now, here or abroad, and the change itself is the interesting part.
From 2027 we are planning a two-week program at the house — mornings at the wheel, afternoons with words and tea, for a small group living and eating here — a place to practice, in the sense of keiko: doing the thing again and again, learning with the body rather than the head.
